LXBids — Revolutionizing Luxury Auctions with a Unique Blind Bidding System

One of the most significant challenges LXBids faced was managing live auctions across different time zones. They needed an easy and effective way to handle user bid requests from multiple time zones while delivering a delightful, consistent, and friendly user experience regardless of location.

LXBids collaborated with our developers to build their unique bidding app and resolve the timezone challenge. We implemented server-side UTC-normalized auction timers that automatically display countdown clocks in each user's local timezone — ensuring every bidder sees accurate, consistent timing information regardless of where they are in the world.

Operating globally meant that not all auction items were available for shipping to every country. Without intelligent filtering, users would encounter auctions for items they couldn't win or receive — leading to poor UX and wasted bidding credits on ineligible auctions.

Developers implemented a country and city-based sorting system to streamline product availability per user. Users can view and bid only on items relevant to their location — simplifying the bidding process, increasing bid confidence, and ensuring every winner can receive their purchase without complications.

The blind bidding model — where bids are hidden from other participants until the auction ends — required robust server-side enforcement to prevent any possibility of bid snooping, manipulation of the shuffled discount system, or disputes about winning bid legitimacy.

All bid values are stored server-side with no client-side exposure. Discount assignments use a cryptographically seeded shuffle algorithm applied at auction creation and locked at that point — guaranteeing the discount stack is both random and tamper-proof, with a full audit trail available for dispute resolution.
