Our client wanted to operate the Taxi Booking app in Germany and wanted to introduce a new feature along with basic features that aligns with the practices of Germany's cab services. This feature allows drivers to edit the ride amount upon completion. However, integrating this capability presents challenges related to maintaining financial accuracy.
Challenges
The challenge was allowing drivers to edit the ride amount while managing finances effectively. The standard fare calculation is based on Base, Duration, and Distance Charges. Allowing drivers to modify these rates could lead to differences and financial issues.
Solutions
The development team proposed the following solution to address these challenges and implement the feature successfully. We predefined a limit or percentage by which drivers can increase the ride amount. The limit should be reasonable, reflecting factors like traffic or route choice for price variations. We also implemented a robust auditing and monitoring mechanism, ensuring drivers are not exploiting the feature to their advantage and helping maintain financial accuracy.
